K A Treble was born in Hong Kong, China in 1983 to an English Father and Australian Mother. She spent her early childhood in Shouson Hill on Hong Kong Island’s steep slopes and
palm trees of Deep Water Bay. Her family moved to the UK in the late 1980s for the majority of her education. She received her BA (Hons) from Ravensbourne College of Design &
Communication in 2005 and continued her study with The University of The Arts London.
Following a diverse career as a fashion designer, she has worked for some of the world’s top luxury labels and international brands in London, New York and SE Asia. Her love of
colour, combinations and expression draws her creative outlay to painting. K A Treble lives and works in Surrey, UK where she is part of the Studio 42 Collective, with whom she has
started to exhibit and grow her practise.
In her work, artist K A Treble explores the process of art making with the expressive power of colour, individual mark-making and thickly applied oil paint. Her labour-intensive
method in which she alternately builds up and scrapes back layers of paint, removing stories and rebuilding them to create and capture energies, emotive expression or modern story
telling of social themes and discourse, from nature to philosophy.
The paintings are intuitive – one mark leads to, informs and changes another through vibrant colour combinations and thick energetic marks. Exploring their relationship to each other
and the absorbing effect on the beholder to express profound emotion through painting continues as a key part of her practise. In her latest series she explores the current world
that surrounds her to try to express and capture the times we live in today.
