Samantha's approach is inspired by traditional drawing illustrations as well as subject matters which include architectural buildings, nostalgic ornaments and fantasy influences. Her recent collections incorporate the colour yellow as an accent to the black and white pencil drawings she creates. Originally this added colour was to symbolise flowers within her work, but now has developed further into other features of her drawings to continue her distinct look.

The reason yellow is an important aspect to her work is from her grandmother's concept that yellow roses were a symbolic colour for happiness, which Samantha adds to her work to trademark and also commemorate her grandmother's passing within her work.
